Quick thoughts on a my read this past week!

Twisted Perfection
By Abbi Glines
★★★★☆

Leave it to Abbi Glines to write a book that just leaves us wanting, no begging for more, it seems to be what she’s famous for.  She makes you fall in love with the characters, spend almost the entire time on an emotional rollercoaster ride of if and when they are going to finally get over the drama that is constantly thrown in their faces and be able to be together and then bam!  Something happens to put a huge roadblock in the way of their “Happily Ever After” and we are at the end of the book meaning we will now have to wait for the next book, gah!

Blurb:
Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

I absolutely love Woods, I loved him from the Too Far books and was so excited for the chance to read his story.  Let me tell you this does not disappoint in the least.  Woods is everything you want in a story like this.  Sexy, conflicted yet trying everything in his power to get what he wants he’s pretty much irresistible.

As for Della, she is definitely a character which I would love to see more of.  There is a lot that her character can bring to these stories and I think she is a great match for Woods.

I can not wait for the next book in the series, I hope and pray it will be out sooner rather than later!

Kristen Ashley At Her Best!

My Feelings!

This may very well be my favorite Kristen Ashley book to date.  I absolutely love, L-O-V-E, love this book!  I am completely, 100%, in love with Parker “Shy” Cage.  I also have to say that Tabby is one of the very few Kristen Ashley Heroine’s that I find myself loving—actually finding a real connection with—which makes the chemistry between her and Shy even better.  Own the Wind has definitely made me an even bigger fan of Kristen Ashley, if that’s actually possible.

Own The Wind (Chaos #1)

Blurb:

Tabitha Allen has a not-so-secret crush on Parker “Shy” Cage. Shy thinks he knows the path Tabby’s on and it isn’t a good one. So he decides to teach her a lesson to lead her to the right path.

Unfortunately, he was wrong and his actions wound Tabby, breaking her heart. It’s Tabby who then teaches Shy a lesson about casting judgment and Shy Cage learns what it feels like to be invisible. But when tragedy strikes and Tabby’s heart is broken again, Shy does what he can in the background to help. Trying to forget her heartbreak, Tabby finds herself in danger. To keep it secret from her biker family, the Chaos Motorcycle Club, she calls Shy to rescue her. But when she lets him back in, she gets much more than she bargained for.

This story is so many things that we have grown accustomed to when we read a Kristen Ashley book.  Obviously we have the strong Alpha male who has the ability to make you swoon.  The quirky, sassy and beautiful female that you wished was part of your posse.  The romance, the sexy and scorching sex and that ever present drama that all of her characters must overcome.  Sometimes that drama is over the top, sometimes it’s funny and ever once in a while it is absolutely heartbreaking of course no matter how you would classify it Kristen Ashley has a way of capturing your attention.

For me at least, with Shy I finally felt as if Ms. Ashley had developed a character I could actually see myself truly falling for in real life.  Now that is not to say I don’t love most of the men in her books, they are all hot and swoon worthy in their own way, however Shy had a “sweetness” a “sincerity” to him that I think surpassed almost all of her other men and seeing as he is in a Motorcycle Club that just sealed the deal right there.

“I’m with him because when I’m with him, I’m free to be me. I’m with him because he’s hot. I’m with him because he lets me blather, since I’m prone to blathering, and he lets me rant when I have a bad day. I’m with him because when I rant, he makes me feel better and he does this effortlessly. I’m with him because I live for the times when I’m on the back of his bike and we’re riding together, not even talking, just being free.” -Tabby

As for Tabby, she was strong, independent, funny and had the ability to stand up to Shy when needed and prove she could make a life for herself.  I loved this about her.  I loved that she had backbone yet she wasn’t hard even after growing up in the lifestyle they lived.

“I had you up against the headboard, baby, but that was not fucking and it came natural. It’s what we have. I didn’t know that’s what I’d get but I’m pleased as fuck you gave it to me. That alone answers your why when it comes to the us part. As for why it’s you, I don’t know, I don’t care. It just is. It could be ’cause you’re gorgeous. It could be ’cause you’re funny. It could be ’cause I like the way you handled Pete when he lost his daughter. It could be ’cause you and me got Chaos in common, it’s us, it’s in our blood and this was meant to be. It could be ’cause I like the way you are with your family. It could be ’cause you get off on bein’ on the back of my bike almost as much as I get off straddling it. I figure it’s all that and more. I am not gonna analyze it. I’m gonna feel it ’cause I like it and that’s all there is to it.” – Shy

Together Tabby and Shy are a great couple that I can’t wait to see more of.

“May feel like you’re fallin’, Tabby, but remember, I’m at the bottom ready to catch you.”-Shy

M/M In The Main Stream!

Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11)Lover At Last by J.R. Ward
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another….

Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: The male has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young—just as Qhuinn has always wanted for himself. It’s hard to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. As he’s learned firsthand.

Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions… but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together… finally become one.

This one is hard for me to rate. For the Main story (Q & B)★★★★ Loved almost everything about them in this book aside from the fact that I really think the miscommunication went on a little too long. As for the rest of the story Assail & Sola ★★, Trez and iAm ★★ Layla & Xcor ★★★.

I hate to say it but I just felt like come on for the love already, enough with these side stories all I want is Blay and Qhuinn and the rest of the Brotherhood. I think that is the biggest problem with this series for me is that there is always just too much going on, too many sub-plots and half the time I couldn’t care less.

I hate spending so much on a book to find myself skimming through the pages and chapters.
