Jory Harcourt is finally living the dream. Being married to US Marshal Sam Kage has changed him—it’s settled the tumult of their past and changed Jory from a guy who bails at the first sign of trouble to a man who stays and weathers the storm. He and Sam have two kids, a house in the burbs, and a badass minivan. Jory’s days of being an epicenter for disaster are over. Domestic life is good.

Which means it’s exactly the right time for a shakeup on the home front. Sam’s ex turns up in an unexpected place. A hit man climbs up their balcony at a family reunion. And maybe both of those things have something to do with a witness who disappeared a year ago. Marital bliss just got a kick in the pants, but Jory won’t let anyone take his family away from him. Before he knew what it felt like to have a home, he would have run. Not anymore. He knows he and Sam need to handle things together, because that’s the only way they’re going to make it. No more Jory and Sam? I am not quite sure how I feel about that yet. All I know is that I am going to miss that little “trouble magnet” Jory and the Sexy Marshal Sam Kage. Why oh why Mary Calmes does it have to end?

While this book was not my favorite of the series for various reasons, it was still a great conclusion to the Matter Of Time books. We got to see the life that Sam and Jory had built for themselves with their adorable children Kobe and Hannah as well as getting a look at all the usual suspects and their lives and families.

We see the couple dealing with parenthood, lies and secrets and of course we couldn’t have a book about Jory and Sam with out a bit of kidnapping, gun shots, fights and yelling, hospital visits and the constant presence of the Chicago PD. How many times has Jory been kidnapped or at least held at gun point now? It’s just become another day in the life of the Harcourt-Kage household.

Even with all that still the great love between Jory and Sam, their passion and desire for each other is always there. Damn those two are sexy! Lots of great lovin’ between those two. I have to admit I ate it right up.

This book will need a re-read to really be able to give it a proper review because the truth is I just loved it for the fact that it was Jory and Sam. I am Biased, I can’t get enough of them. I could read about them forever.
